The »Dead Ladies Show« rocks the Droste Festival with three enthusiastic podcast portraits of women whose legacy demands to be celebrated. The most charming séance of all time brings us closer to women who achieved something extraordinary despite all of the resistance they faced. This episode is about Adelaide Herrmann, a nineteenth-century American stage magician known by the name of »Queen of Magic«. Born in London, she trained in aerial acrobatics and toured as a velocipede trick-rider before coming to New York, where she first worked as an assistant to her husband, the magician Alexander Herrmann. After his death she started a solo career as »The World’s Only Woman Magician«. She toured the world with dangerous acts like the »bullet catch« trick and complicated illusions such as »The Phantom Bride« and »The Witch«. Katy Derbyshire presents this ambitious and enchanting lady and her breathtaking magic tricks.
